About Mira
"... The notes produced by Mira Foron's playing went straight to the heart."
Neue Westfälische Zeitung
Described as possessing a talent "…going far beyond just technical brilliance", Mira emerged victorious in all the various competitions of Jugend Musiziert, including the nationwide contest. There then followed first prizes won in the international competitions Premio Città di Padova and FLAME in Paris, the international Andrea Postacchini violin competition in Fermo, Italy and the Swiss Charity Award. At the age of 14 Mira made her debut at the Zürich Tonhalle, performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. Only two years later she was chosen to represent Germany at the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Edinburgh. In the finale of this competition Mira played together with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and its Chief Conductor Thomas Dausgaard. After winning a gold medal at the Manhattan International Music Competition, Mira then went on to win the First Grand Prize of the Berlin International Music Competition and also the Vienna Music Competition, making her debuts at the Berlin Philharmonie and the Vienna Konzerthaus.
Mira was born into a family of musicians in Stuttgart. Both her parents are cellists; her brother Nicolò Umberto is a pianist and conductor. Since her mother is Italian and her father German, Mira grew up speaking both languages. She began studying violin at the age of five. In the same year she gained a place as a child student at the Musikhochschule in Hannover. Subsequently, Mira studied with Boris Garlitsky at the Folkwang-Universität Essen, with Koh Gabriel Kameda at the Musikhochschule in Detmold, and with Kolja Blacher at the Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule in Berlin. Currently, she is a student of Julia Fischer’s at the Musikhochschule in Munich. She has also participated in master-classes with Daniel Hope, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Josef Rissin, Zakhar Bron, Mihaela Martin and Ana Chumachenco at, among other locations, the Kronberg Academy.
She has performed at the festival "Stars at the Rhine" in Basle (playing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 ), at the Hagen Theatre (Sibelius’s Violin Concerto), at Göteborg Concert Hall, at the Copenhagen Summer Festival and (performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto) with the Rostock Philharmonic Orchestra. She played Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Youth Orchestra North Rhine-Westphalia under the conductor Sebastian Tewinkel, at a concert which also included the world premiere of Fazil Say’s cadenzas. The recording of this concert by WDR was released in 2021 as a CD. In the Lenbachhaus in Munich Mira performed several works of chamber music, rehearsed with Vladimir Jurowski. The programmes of other concerts given by her included Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 and Schubert’s Rondo, performed together with the Clara Schumann Philharmoniker of Plauen-Zwickau under the baton of Leo Siberski.
Mira was invited by Anne Sophie Mutter to perform as one of “Mutter’s Virtuosi” at her Jubilee Concerts at the Salzburger Festspiele as well as in the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden. She has received scholarships from the Fonds Instrumental Français and the Federal State Foundation Baden- Württemberg. Since 2015 she has been in receipt of a scholarship of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. She plays a violin made, in Milan in 1710, by Carlo Giuseppe Testore.
